HOW TO BECOME A REAL ESTATE AGENT IN MONTANA

First you will need to become a licensed real estate agent through the State of Montana. The Board of Realty Regulation can provide more information regarding licensure. Visit the BRR’s website here.

Below are the minimum requirements you must meet in order to be licensed in the state of Montana.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. (MCA 37-41-302)
  • Must have received credit for completion of 2 years of full curriculum study at an accredited high school or equivalent. (MCA 37-41-302)
  • Must have completed 70 hours of approved pre-licensing education within the past 24 months. (MCA 37-41-302 and ARM 24.210.611(8))
  • Must have passed the Montana Real Estate Salesperson Examination within the past 12 months. (MCA 37-41-302 and ARM 24.210.611(3))
  • Must be employed or under contract with a licensed broker with a supervising broker endorsement.

HOW TO BECOME A REAL ESTATE BROKER IN THE STATE OF MONTANA

Below are the minimum requirements you must meet in order to be licensed in the state of Montana.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. (MCA 37-41-302)
  • Must have graduated from an accredited high school or equivalent. (MCA 37-41-302)
  • Must have completed 60 hours of approved pre-licensing education within the past 18 months. (MCA37-41-302 and ARM 24.210.611(9))
  • Must have passed the Montana Real Estate Broker Examination within the past 12 months. (MCA37-41-302 and ARM 24.210.611(3))

  • Must have a minimum of two years’ experience as a licensed salesperson. (MCA 37-41-302 andARM 24.210.611(9))
  • Must have completed the experience points requirements as written in ARM 24.210.611(9)(b). (MCA37-41-302 and ARM 24.210.611(9))
